Calypso adds some Caribbean vibes and a touch of art deco refinement to a stunning beach house in the prestigious Mexican Punta Mita Resort

Located on the sandy beachfront of Mexico’s premiere luxury golf and spa resort in Riviera Nayarit on the Pacific coast of Mexico, Villa Ranchos 5 is a stunning villa with a minimalist architecture and a tropical landscape that lends itself well to being the perfect dream destination for large family reunions, golf trips or spa retreats.

The idea behind the design curated by architect, and Mexico native, Joaquin Homs, was to create a neutral and tranquil space, decorated with relaxing earthy tones and a skilful use of wood, as well as a hay thatch roof to maintain the serenity of the environment with accents of colour and texture to replicate the blue of the sea and the lush greenery that surrounds the house.

Particular attention in the interior concept has been paid to decorative lighting in the living and the dining spaces: the various shapes inspired by the 1940s deco style of the iconic Calypso Martinique, Antigua and Guadaloupe suspension lights designed by Servomuto and their bright colours, add tropical vibes and a great sense of vitality. The green braided silk rope characterising the indoor version of the Calypso pendant is particularly effective and striking when assembled in clusters of lights, creating a statement and drama that never go unnoticed.

In the other common areas of the house, such as the spa, the gym, the wine cellar, the home theatre, and the game room, the interior design strives to give character and, at the same time, to find a trait d’union among the different environments, playing with the furniture, the lighting and the accessories.

The Oops floor lamp, designed by Gianluigi Landoni, with its neutral tones of Canaletto walnut and white cotton, along with the elegant bronze tones of the big Cube lanterns, designed by Massimiliano Raggi, brings us back to the relaxing and intimate maritime atmosphere of this wonderful open-air summer retreat.
